Lurk

Lurk has been listening to electronic music since the early ‘90s when he discovered acts, labels and nights like The Orb, Eat Static, EyeQ, Harthouse, MegaDog Whirl-Y-Gig, Club Alien and finally, Return to the Source, where he found his niche with the psytrance sound.

A few years later he bought decks, mainly because all the best music was still only on vinyl, but was persuaded to come out of the bedroom to play his first party, in his (then) hometown of Groningen NL, in ’98. He has since DJed all over Europe, India and Australia alongside some of the biggest names in the scene.

After long spells as a label DJ for Boom! Records, and then Sonic Dragon Records, where he compiled the well received “Get Your Wonk On” CD, he was asked to join Liquid Records in 2009 to help the label shape the direction for its progressive releases. Although he still loves playing a rinsing full-on set, and the more traditional progressive psy, his tastes are evolving rapidly to take in more techno, electro and prog house influences. You could say he’s gone full circle!

His favourite sets are ones that involve a transition, especially taking it from progressive to full on, dark to light, or vice versa.
